The characters of Caprice & Ella have done some awful things — and yes, that includes Caprice, Ella, and their owner, Ava Zinn herself. For this list, we’re looking at the most terrible, chaotic, and downright bonkerous deeds committed by the all‑American transgender wife, father, and grandfather at the center of the series.

Today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Worst Things Ava Zinn Has Ever Done on Caprice & Ella. We’ll be focusing on the moments when Ava knowingly or unknowingly lost her moral high ground, as well as the times her judgment… well… completely evaporated.

Spoilers ahead.
Who’s the most unhinged character in Caprice & Ella history? Let us know in the comments.

10. Making Out with Breeanna in Public—”Breaking Boiling Point” & “Ava’s Got Her Wicked Game On”

Ava has it rough—mocked for her looks, her weight, her income, and her chronic injuries. So when she brings home a cute new girlfriend (later wife), she moves fast. Too fast.

After lunch at Penn Station East Coast Subs, Ava and Breeanna are caught off-camera making out. Later, in “Ava’s Got Her Wicked Game On,” Caprice and Ella walk in on the pair going at it on the couch… during one of Ava’s Zoom classes.
Not exactly the height of professionalism. Keep it classy, Ms. Zinn.

9. Using Caprice, Hank, and George as Enforcers—Various Episodes

Aeverine “Ava” Franchesca Zinn lives by a few codes. One of them?
Don’t question her housekeeping. Ever.

When a maintenance worker named Brandon refuses to get on board after Ava relocates from Black Pine Flats to Golfview Apartments, she decides to “teach him respect.” With management refusing to intervene, Ava unleashes Caprice and her security guards, Hank and George, to intimidate him.
Caprice delivers the warning. Hank and George deliver the Dirty Harry treatment in a deleted scene.

Not her most diplomatic moment.

8. Weaponizing Ella—”Black Pine Hellish Pride” & “After the Cockroach Rush”

Another code Ava believes in: the Golden Rule… until cockroaches show up in her home.

After discovering an infestation—which Ava blames on accusations of poor housekeeping—she snaps. Ella responds by defecating on the lawns of both Black Pine Flats and Golfview Apartments, presumably with Ava cleaning up afterward.

It’s petty. It’s chaotic. It’s very Ava.

7. Alcohol and CBD/Marijuana Use—Various

Ava occasionally turns to alcohol or CBD oil (legal in Indiana; THC is not). In “Ava’s Got Her Wicked Game On (Part 4),” after being humiliated by Brandon, the maintenance guy, she mixes beer, vodka, and Long Island Iced Tea.

She rarely appears visibly drunk or high, but the pattern is there—a coping mechanism that sometimes edges into questionable territory.

6. Pulling a Brandi Chastain on Zoom—”Ava’s Got Her Wicked Game On & “Addressing Concerns #3”

Ava has a history of revealing her bra on camera—four times on Vote for the Girls and at least twice on Caprice & Ella.

During a Zoom class session, she loses herself trying to impress Breeanna and ends up in her bra. A professor nearly intervenes on camera during a deleted scene, and the whole thing could’ve gone much further.

Later, in “Addressing Concerns #3,” she admits to Karly Jameson that she can be promiscuous—comparing herself to Hugh Grant’s infamous 1995 scandal.

A midlife crisis? Maybe. A disaster? Definitely.

5. Orchestrating a Suicide Threat to Obtain Housing—”Terms of Enragement”

This one crosses a line.

Ava stages a suicide threat as part of a plan to secure new housing. Even as a dark comedic plotline, it’s a deeply disturbing tactic that would traumatize anyone involved.

No jokes here—this is one of her most morally bankrupt decisions.

4. Nearly Sexually Relieving Herself on a Therapist — “Ava’s Got Her Wicked Game On”

Ava is a transgender woman attracted to women, and usually she confines her romantic behavior to Breeanna. But during a virtual therapy session, she nearly crosses a major ethical boundary.

Breeanna arrives shortly after the session ends, preventing things from escalating further. Still, the implications are serious—and Ava knows it.

3. Forcing Caprice to Abuse Catnip—”Catnip Fail”

Only six episodes in, and Ava already makes a catastrophic pet parenting mistake.

Trying to punish Caprice for enjoying catnip, Ava forces her to overindulge in hopes of making her sick of it. Instead, Caprice becomes even more addicted—and Ava accidentally rekindles her own past vices in the process.

A classic case of “this will teach her”… except it absolutely doesn’t.

2. Allegedly Treating Caprice and Ella Poorly—Various

Some viewers argue Ava is the fairest pet owner imaginable. Others… disagree to the point it is an ongoing problem.

In “Breaking Boiling Point,” Ava locks Caprice in the bathroom for two hours during a stressful move. Caprice only gets released after threatening to scratch Breeanna. Over time, both Caprice and Ella become more rebellious and unhinged—a direct response to Ava’s emotional volatility.

Pet Father of the Year Ava is not.

1. Excessive Profanity—Various

Ava Zinn has been dropping F‑bombs since 1999. There’s a reason Caprice & Ella has both broadcast‑safe and uncensored versions.

Her YouTube presence is defined by bluntness, fiery patience, a strict demeanor, and a vocabulary that would make Gordon Ramsay blush. On Vote for the Girls, she was even called “The Gordon Ramsay of American Idol” and “The Judge Judy on X Factor.”

While she tones it down around children—cursing only seven times during “Breaking Boiling Point 2: A Renter’s Revenge (Part 6)”—she and Caprice still swear more than anyone else in the cast.

Profanity isn’t her worst crime… but it’s definitely her most consistent.
